APO Exam Highlights

The Uttar Pradesh Service Commission(UPPSC) ​releases its official notification for the posts of APO every year. The notification contains all related information such as vacancies, syllabus and exam pattern. There may not be changes in the exam pattern which includes the sectional timings/sectional etc. Thus, it is always beneficial to read over the official notification properly.

Exam Notification

Exam Pattern

The exam for recruitment of Assistant Prosecution Officer will consist of-

(1) Preliminary Examination (Objective Type),

(2) Written Main Examination (Subjective Type),

(3) Interview

  1. Preliminary Examination

Preliminary examination includes one paper with maximum marks of 150. It is devided into part-1 and part-2.

  • Negative Marking

    • There are four alternatives for the answer to every question. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
    • If a question is left blank i.e. no answer is given by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
    1. Main Examination

                  Written exam Marks

    1. General Knowledge 100
    2. General Hindi 100

    (Question Paper will be High School Standard)

    1. Criminal Law & Procedure 100

    (Police Act & Regulations of Law Degree Standard)

    1. Law of Evidence 100

    (Which will include direct & applied question of Law Degree Level)

    • Time of all question papers will be three hours.
    1. Personality Test (Interview)

    The Personality Test (Interview) will be of 50 marks.

    • The suitability of the candidates shall be assessed with reference to his capacity, Character, Personality and Physical fitness.
    • The Marks obtained in written test will be added to the obtained in Personality Test to consider the place of the candidate.
    • The final merit list for the selection to the post of Assistant Prosecution officer will be made by adding the numbers obtained in the UPPSC APO Main Written Exam and the personality test.
    • It means that the final merit list will be made according to the numbers of candidates from 450 Marks.

APO Qualification

Educational Qualification

The candidates must possess Law Degree from any recognized University upto the last date for receipt of application.

Candidate shall be given preference who (1) Has served for a minimum period of two years in Territorial Army or (2) Has obtained “B” certificate of N.C.C.

Age Limit

Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have crossed the age of 40 years.

Age Relaxation

Age relaxation as per UP Government rules is applicable.
