IBPS PO Exam Highlights

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) PO is conducted for the recruitment of probationary officers and management trainees for 17 public sector banks in India. It is among the most awaited job notifications among the banking job aspirants. That’s why, any of its notification is most awaited. After official notification Online exam of IBPS PO is conducted in two phases- Preliminary and Main. All candidates who clear Preliminary and Main online tests have to appear for the Common Interview (CI) round. Selection of candidates is based on performance of the candidate in the Mains and CI round. Depending on the vacancies, shortlisted candidates are posted at any one of the participating banks.

Exam Notification

IBPS release its official notification for the post of PO every year. IBPS releases its vacancies to recruit the eligible candidates for the post of PO (Probationary Officer). Exam Pattern

To get success in IBPS PO  Exam, it is necessary to know the exam pattern and detailed syllabus of this exam. This will help you to prepare for this exam. IBPS PO Exam will be conducted in three phases: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview Process. IBPS PO PRELIMS EXAM PATTERN

It is the first phase of the IBPS PO recruitment process. Recently IBPS has introduced a new pattern of sectional timings in the ‘Prelims’ as well as ‘Mains’ exam. There will be three sections/tests which except the test of English Language will be bilingual. All the questions will be ‘objective type’. The candidates will have to secure sectional cut-off in each test along with the overall cut-off. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every question attempted wrong by a candidate in both Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam.

IBPS PO MAINS EXAM PATTERN

After the first phase of IBPS PO Prelims is over and the candidates have been shortlisted according to the announced cut-off, they are expected to clear mains exam. It will consists of four objective type tests along with one English descriptive test which will be evaluated only if you secure the expected cut-off in the other four objective tests and this cumulative score ( Objective tests marks + Descriptive marks) will further go on to decide your selection for the third Interview stage.

IBPS PO Interview Process

Candidates who qualify the Mains Exam are finally called for the Interview Process by IBPS. The Interview Process will constitute of 100 marks and the minimum marks for qualifying this round will be 40% which is reduced to 35% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.

IBPS PO Qualification

IBPS follows a specific eligibility criteria which all applicants need to follow. IBPS PO Eligibility Criteria mentioned in the official notification. For successful application of any examination, all candidates need to follow certain guidelines mentioned in the official notification, failing which the candidate’s candidature will be cancelled.   • Educational Qualifications

A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Government of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.  The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet/Degree Certificate that he/she is a graduate on the day he/she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

  • Age Criteria

A candidate must not have exceeded the age of 30 years. An age relaxation of five, three and ten years is given to SC/ ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PwD candidates, respectively.

Cut-Off

To get an idea about the IBPS PO Exam level, it is better to refer to the previous year’s cut-offs, that may give you a correct idea of the exam and the extent to which you need to prepare for it. As the IBPS PO Exam is held in three phases, therefore it is important to know the cut-offs for all the phases. Apart from this, the cut-offs are now released into two types:

  • Overall Cut-off .
  • Sectional Cut-off.

A candidate needs to secure the minimum specified marks in different sections as well as the overall score to ensure his/her selection.
