Life Insurance Corporation Assistant Administrative Officer or LIC AAO is the competitive exam conducted by LIC to recruit the AAO Generalist, AAO IT, AAO Chartered Accountant and AAO Actuarial posts.It is a very lucrative and one of the best entry-level jobs for those seeking job in the insurance sector. LIC AAO exam is conducted across the nation at various designated centers.

Exam Notification

LIC AAO exam Official Notification releases by Life Insurance Corporation of India every year. Candidates can read the Notification by clicking on official website of LIC. Notification of LIC Assistant exam contains all the relevant information regarding exam, eligibility criteria, age limit, nationality etc. The recruitment process will be conducted to recruit eligible candidates to the post of Assistant Administrative Officer in various branches of LIC all across the country.

Exam Pattern

The LIC AAO Recruitment process involves three stages. These are as under:

  1. Preliminary Exam,
  2. Main Exam, and
  3. Personal Interview

LIC AAO Prelims Exam Pattern

It has three sections, each consisting of objective questions of Multiple Choice Type. The exam will be conducted in the online mode. The three sections, number of questions in each section, marking scheme and time duration of LIC AAO Prelims are tabulated below:

  • Each question carries 1 mark. The three sections are separately timed, which means candidates will be able to attempt a particular section only during the allotted time and need to finish the section in that time period.
  • English Language section is just qualifying in nature.

LIC AAO Mains Exam Pattern

LIC AAO Mains exam pattern is different for the different posts of AAO (Generalist/IT/Chartered Accountant/Actuarial/Rajbhasha). For all these posts, the Mains exam has both objective and descriptive sections and both are conducted in the online mode.

  • The descriptive test will be conducted immediately after the objective exam is over. The sections of the Main exam too are separately timed.
  • The descriptive test for all posts, is qualifying in nature. This means the marks secured by the candidates in the descriptive test will not be considered to compile the final merit list.

  • Candidates will have to secure the minimum qualifying marks in each of the sections (LIC AAO sectional cut-off) as well as the overall minimum qualifying marks (LIC AAO overall cut-off) in order to appear for the next round, that is the Personal Interview round.
  • It is also important to note that the descriptive paper will be evaluated only if the candidate clears the objective test.

Personal Interview             

  • Shortlisted candidates, who qualify in the Online Test, will be called for Personal Interview round.
  • Usually, the number of candidates called for this round is three times the number of vacancies available for the post of LIC AAO in various branches of the organization across the country.
  • The Interview is conducted for 30 marks. For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying marks is 27 whereas, for candidates belonging to other categories, the minimum qualifying marks is 30.

Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination

Shortlisted candidates will have to undergo a Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination and if found medically fit, will be offered appointment.
