Every year Ministry of Railways releases RPF Constable & SI (Sub Inspector) exam Notification to fill large number of vacancies for different zones of Indian Railways. It is important for the applicants to know a few details about the same. Let’s have a look at the important facts about the RPF Constable & SI Exam.

Exam Notification

Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) releases official Notification for recruitment of Railway Protection Force (RPF Constable) and SI posts from eligible candidates who must be citizens of India. Notification related to this exam contains all the relevant information regarding exam, eligibility criteria, age limit, nationality etc.

Exam Pattern

Railway Recruitment constable and SI Exam conducted in 4 phases.

  • Phase 1: CBT
  • Phase 2: PET
  • Phase 3: PMT
  • Phase 4: Document Verification

PET (Physical Efficiency Test)

It is mandatory for all candidates to qualify Physical Efficiency Test in order to be eligible for further recruitment of RPF Exam.

Document Verification

This is the final selection stage for RPF Recruitment. Candidates who have been selected in the previous processes will be finally called for Document Verification. Shortlisted candidates should produce NOC from the employer on the date of his/her DV failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

RRB Constable & SI Qualification

Candidates applying for the post of Constable and Sub-Inspector in RPF and RPSF should fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India

Age Limit: For the post of Constable and Sub-Inspector, the age limit is as follows:

Age required for Constable’s (Executive) post

For constable posts minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 25 years.

Age required for Sub-Inspector (Executive) post

For sub-inspector (executive) post minimum age is 20 years and maximum age is 25 years.

Age Relaxation

SC/ST Candidates: For SC/ST candidates who are going to apply for RPF SI post, the age relaxation is 5 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 30years.

OBC-Non Creamy Layer candidates: For OBC-Non-creamy layer candidates the age relaxation is 3 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 28years.

Ex-servicemen: Ex-servicemen candidates should have at least 6 months of continuous service after attestation.

  • For UR(Unreserved) Ex-servicemen candidates, the age relaxation is (to the extent of service rendered in Armed Force + 3 years) + 25 years.
  • For OBC-Non-creamy Layer Ex-servicemen candidates, the age relaxation is (to the extent of service rendered in Armed Force + 6 years) + 25 years.
  • For SC/ST Ex-servicemen candidates, the age relaxation is (to the extent of service rendered in Armed Force + 8 years) + 25 years.

Jammu & Kashmir Candidates: Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) State between the duration of 1st Jan 1980 to 31st Dec 1989.

  • For UR(Unreserved) candidates: 5 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 30 years.
  • For OBC-Non-creamy layer candidates: 8 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 33 years.
  • For SC/ST candidates: 10 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 35 years.

Central Govt. Employees Other than Ex-servicemen: Candidates who were central government employee except for Ex-servicemen and did regular & continuous service of 3 years or more.

  • For UR candidates: 5 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 30 years.
  • For OBC-Non-creamy layer candidates: 8 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 33 years.
  • For SC/ST candidates: 10 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 35 years.

Widows, divorced women: Candidate(Female) who are widows, divorced and judicially separated and remarries.

  • For UR(Unreserved) candidates: 2 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 27 years.
  • For OBC-Non-creamy layer candidates: 5 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 30 years.
  • For SC/ST candidates: 7 years i.e., the upper(max) age limit is 32 years.

Physical standards for both Constable and Sub-Inspector posts are same. Candidates must fulfill the following category-wise physical standards.

Stages of RPF SI & Constable Cut-Off

The RPF cut off will be applied in the RPF SI and Constable exam as given below:

  • Qualifying cut-off – It is the minimum percentage of marks to be secured in the CBT exam. It is 35% for General category and 30% for SC and ST. This is the first criteria to qualify.
  • Sectional cut-off – Sectional cut off is the minimum marks to be scored in each of the section to be eligible to qualify for the next stage.
  • Overall cut-off– It is the cut off applied on the total marks.
