SSC CHSL Exam Highlights

SSC CHSL (Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level ) is a national level exam conducted by SSC every year. The exam is conducted to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) , Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) , in various ministries/Departments/Offices of the Government of India . The exam conducted in three stages called tiers. Tier-1 exam conducted in online mode across different cities . Tier-2 will be a Descriptive Paper in paper and pen mode . Tier-3 will be skill test on computer.

SSC CHSL Exam Notification

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

SSC exams are organized in different stages called ‘tiers’. Candidates should qualify step by step in each tier and go ahead in the selection process. SSC CHSL 2019 examination will also be conducted in three Tiers:

Tier 1: Objective Type Computer Based Examination

Tier 2: Descriptive Paper (Paper and pen )

Tier 3: Skill Test/ Typing Test

Exam Pattern for SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1

The SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1 is the first stage for all the candidates in the SSC CHSL Examination process. Candidates need to qualify this stage in order to move to the next stage. The SSC CHSL Tier 1 will be a computer based examination which will consist of objective type questions with multiple choices. Tier 1 will consist of four subjects: General Intelligence,Quantitative Aptitude,English Language and General Awareness. All the sections will be allotted equal marks with a composite timing of 1 hour and of total 200 marks.

Exam Pattern for SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 2
For VH/ OH (afflicted by Cerebral Palsy and OH with deformity in writing hand, the time duration would be 80 Minutes.

  • There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer
  • The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-II, III & IV.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 is followed by Tier 2 All the candidates who qualify Tier 1 are supposed to appear in Tier 2 Exam. The Tier 2 exam will be conducted in offline mode. SSC CHSL Tier 2 consists of a single descriptive paper of English where the candidates are required to write an essay and a letter within the specified word limit. The exam pattern for Tier 2 SSC CHSL Exam is as follows.

SSC CHSL Qualification

SSC mentions a specific educational criteria for all the candidates who are willing to apply for the post under CHSL. The job being of ‘higher secondary level’, the minimum educational qualification required to apply for SSC CHSL is 10+2/HSC.  

SSC CHSL 2019 Age Criteria

All the candidates willing to apply for SSC CHSL job need to follow a certain age criteria. SSC specifies a minimum and maximum age limit for all the candidates. The minimum age required to apply for SSC CHSL is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 27 years. The age will be considered as on August 01,2019.

SSC CHSL 2019 Age Relaxation

Apart from the minimum and maximum age limit that SSC mentions for CHSL posts, it also provides a relaxation in age for some categories. The relaxation may vary according to the different posts as follows:
